My Texas Tour and then Some! by Ethan's Flat Stanley

Ethan's class made Flat Stanley's this year. Ethan's Flat Stanley had the privilege of traveling with Auntie Kil Choe. She journaled Stanley's adventures. Come along and see what Stanley got to do . . . .

My Texas Tour and then Some! by Ethan's Flat Stanley
State flower of Texas: Bluebonnet
I went to a small Texas town called La Grange for Easter weekend. Can you count how many eggs there are?
I'm having a little fun with this old wagon wheel. It's a windy day - weeeeeeee!
I thought this working windmill was neat! It's really called a windpump - used to pump water from farm wells. The windpump uses the wind to rotate the blades which fills the trough with water for the animals to drink.
The farmer that owns this land uses it to give rescued horses and donkeys a nice place to live.
This old tractor isn't used anymore so they let me play on it and pretend to be a farmer. Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O.....
This friendly donkey let me have a ride! Giddy-up!
I spotted this Texas flag - it's painted on the side of a trailer. Did you know it's red, white and blue just like the flag of the United States?
Surprise! I'm flying across the Atlantic Ocean to visit a country in Europe called Italy. Did you know Italy is shaped like a boot?
We're in Florence, Italy. This marble statue, David, was carved by a famous artist named Michelangelo almost 500 years ago.
This church is famous for its large dome that covers the chapel.
The dome, 600 years later, is still the largest dome built in brick and mortar in the world.
Incredible!
These gilded bronze doors found on the Baptistery are called "Gates of Paradise" and depict scenes from the Old Testament.
Wow! The Leaning Tower of Pisa!!
This tower was built about 800 years ago and it started to lean when the 3rd floor was added. They kept building it - now it's 7 stories tall plus a bell tower.
Amazing!

This is the ruins of Pompeii. This city was completely covered by a very large volcanic eruption in AD 79 (almost 2000 years ago!).
Can you see the big mountain in the background? That's the volcano that erupted - Mount Vesuvius.

This area of Pompeii is called the Forum and was used for town meetings and social events.

Look at this! I found stacks of sacks with Ethan's last name CAPUTO printed on them. I later found out that Caputo Company in Naples makes excellent flour for pizza dough. Cool!

I was so tired after all of my travels. I buckled my seat belt and took a long nap on the flight back to Texas.
THE END
A special thanks to Auntie Kil Choe for putting together such a fun book of Stanley's adventures in Texas and beyond!
